2022 Season Information

Listed below are a few items to consider as we look to the 2022 season. All policies are dependent upon a return to a "normal" state of operation, regarding the pandemic or any other circumstance.

1.) Conditioning Week and Spring Break. We have been informed that we may consider attendance mandatory for the conditioning week. Additionally, we practice during spring break.
2.) Attendance. We can anticipate a return to past practice after the temporary change for the 2021 season. Absences due to anything regarding A.) Yourself, B.) Your Family, and C.) Your Education, will be excused. These include, but are not limited to, health and safety concerns, religious observations, family events, and anything that affects academic standing or educational advancement.
Participation in other sports or other baseball teams during our season does not fall under the priority exemptions. (Possible exceptions: players who are new to our baseball program [not returning players] may see scheduling conflicts based on prior commitments they made before making the PHS baseball teams. These will be addressed case by case.)
However, we honor and respect when players make personal decisions regarding their own priorities. We encourage players to make thoughtful, tough decisions while they live their own lives. We also ask for an understanding that incorporating an attendance policy is our prerogative for maintaining a positive, responsible, respectable, and successful baseball program.
It is strongly urged for players and families to provide the head coach with advance notification regarding all planned absences.
3.) Playing Time. We do not guarantee playing time at the varsity level. There are no seniority rules. While we do not measure our success in wins and losses, victory is an objective of a competitive program. Our goal is to win, but our purpose is to help develop people of empathy and integrity who will lead, be responsible, and change the world for good. Dealing with adversity is a valuable part of the sports participation experience. Conan O'Brien said it best: "Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." This does not mean that if you work hard and are kind that you will automatically earn playing time. It means that amazing things will happen.
