National Honor Society

Welcome to Proctor National Honor Society!

Your G.P.A. of 3.8 or higher makes you eligible for consideration as a member of the National Honor Society.  National Honor Society membership is based on four criteria: scholarship, service, leadership and character.  Applications are mailed during the summer prior to the student's junior year and are due during the first week of school.  Please be advised that completion of this application does not guarantee selection.  Selection is based on a review of your completed application, and other verifiable information as determined by the NHS Faculty Council.  After the NHS faculty council selects the new members in late-September, you will receive a letter in the mail notifying you of your acceptance status.

National Honor Society selection and membership is based on four criteria:

Scholarship: 3.8 cumulative GPA

Character: demonstrates highest standards of attitude toward honesty, responsibility, personality, and cooperation by complying with school regulations and by upholding principles of morality and ethics.

Leadership: demonstrates leadership in the classroom, promotes school activities, successfully holds school offices or positions of responsibility, contributes ideas which improve civic life of the school, and exerts the type of leadership which directly and positively influences others.

Service: willingness to render service to the school and the community when called upon; willingness to do committee or staff work; readiness to show courtesy in assisting visitors, teachers, and students; willingness to represent the school in state competitions; willingness to render service to the school and community. There is a community service requirement tied to membership in NHS (see enclosed requirements).
